Behavioral Health Workforce Pipeline

Mental Health and Substance Use

The Problem

Building a workforce pipeline for behavioral health fields will help cultivate more mental health professionals in our area, decreasing wait times and increasing opportunities for mental health interventions. Mahoning county now has 1 mental health professional for every 230 residents, fewer than peer counties in Ohio.

Workforce Pipeline

What it is

Creating more excitement in classrooms and providing opportunities for college students interested in behavioral health fields will increase the number of mental health providers in our area.

What it does

  • Decrease stigma associated with mental illness

  • Increase number of providers in our ear

  • Increase access to mental health services
